Label-claim assay — HPLC · UHPLC

Potency and label-claim testing

A label is a promise. Potency testing measures how much of each active ingredient is actually in the product, so you can stand behind the number printed on the panel.

Typical requests

AssayExamplesTechnique
Cannabinoid profileCBD, CBDA, CBG, CBN, Δ9-THC, THCA and total THC, reported per gram and per serving.HPLC-UV/DAD
VitaminsWater- and fat-soluble vitamins in multivitamins, gummies and fortified foods.HPLC · LC-MS/MS
Botanical markersMarker compounds used to standardize extracts, such as curcuminoids, ginsenosides or withanolides.HPLC
Other activesCaffeine, melatonin, creatine, amino acids and other declared ingredients.HPLC · LC-MS/MS

Why potency drifts

Ingredient lots vary, blends separate, heat degrades sensitive compounds, and gummies can lose actives during cooking. Testing each production lot catches these problems before the product ships rather than after a retailer or customer finds them.

Hemp and cannabinoid products

For hemp-derived products we report both the neutral and acidic forms of the main cannabinoids and calculate total THC on a dry-weight basis, the figure most hemp rules are written around. Tell us which state or program your product is sold under and we will format the report to match.

What you receive

A Certificate of Analysis showing each analyte as measured, as a percentage of label claim, and per serving when a serving size is supplied.

Turnaround and pricing

Turnaround depends on the test, the number of samples and the time of year. Standard and rush options are quoted per project. PENDING: turnaround times + pricing
